How Membership Works

How much does it cost to join?

👉 Just $1 for a lifetime membership. That’s it. One dollar, one time, and you’re in for life!

Who can join?

The Glen Burnie Improvement Association offers two types of membership for community-minded individuals who want to make a positive impact:

General Member

Open to anyone 18 or older who lives within the Association’s established boundary lines. General Members are eligible to vote and actively participate in shaping our community.

Associate Member

For those who live outside the Association’s boundaries but reside within the 21060 or 21061 zip codes. To become an Associate Member, you must have attended at least four general membership meetings and volunteered at one event or served on a committee within the past 12 months. Associate Members enjoy all the benefits of involvement, though without voting rights.

All members are expected to support the mission of the Association, follow its Bylaws and Constitution, and work together in the interest of the Glen Burnie community.

How do I join?

Fill out the membership form – online or in person.
Be active in GBIA
- Attend at least 4 General Membership Meetings
- Volunteer in at least 1 event
Your application will be reviewed at the next General Membership Meeting.
Submit your $1 dues – cash, check, or online.
Members present will vote to approve your membership.

Most applicants are approved without issue, and you’re welcome to start attending meetings and volunteering while you wait for final approval.

What happens after I join?

Attend our monthly General Membership Meetings held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the GBIA Hall.
Get involved in the events and activities that matter most to you.
Share your ideas, vote on community matters, and help us keep Glen Burnie a great place to live.
